Farewell, Clovis Independent

With a heavy heart, the Clovis Independent announces its closure after 90 years of serving the community. Founded in 1919, the Independent became a cornerstone of Clovis, chronicling its growth, celebrating local heroes, and keeping residents informed on everything from city council debates to high school sports victories.

The reasons for closing haven’t been made public, but it signifies a changing landscape for local journalism. However, the Independent leaves an undeniable mark. It served as a vital platform for community voices, a watchdog for accountability, and a keeper of Clovis’s history.

We at CI offer our sincere gratitude to the entire Clovis Independent team and its dedicated readers. While the printing presses may stop, the spirit of the Independent – its dedication to community and unwavering commitment to truth – will undoubtedly continue to inspire.

Thank you, Clovis Independent Reader for 90 years.
